China Network News : Innovative Application of "Fully Transparent" Active Luminous Signs on Guangzhou North Ring Expressway

China Network News, originally titled "Full-Transparency Active Illumination | Guangzhou North Ring Expressway Tests First 'Crab'"

Recently, the Guangzhou North Ring Expressway has innovatively demonstrated the application of a "fully transparent" active luminous directional sign, with over thirty sets installed along a 2.5-kilometer section leading to and from the Bai yun shan Tunnel, providing traffic safety assurance for passing vehicles and drivers.

The Guangzhou North Ring Expressway, with a total length of approximately 22 kilometers, sustains a traffic flow exceeding 400,000 vehicles per day. With meticulous construction and management of the North Ring Expressway, this major traffic artery in the Guangzhou metropolitan area operates safely and efficiently even under saturated conditions, showcasing the management's relentless efforts. The section leading to and from the Baiyunshan Tunnel is not only a traffic hub with intersecting entries and exits but also features bends, slopes, and various vehicle types navigating through it. Various traffic signs on this section play a crucial role in maintaining order, safety, and management. To ensure that traffic signs emit light actively "round the clock," including during daytime, nighttime, and low visibility due to rain or fog, coordinating "all elements" of people, vehicles, roads, and environment with comprehensive information, the management team mobilized a top-tier international expert team to conduct research and development in this field.

The original team for active luminous signs received the research and development task and led the team to spend six months on technical upgrades or selections of reflective materials, transparent panels, LED light sources, aluminum alloy profiles, and other materials and structures, successfully mass-producing "fully transparent" large-scale active luminous directional signs that surpass national standards, with ultra-low energy consumption and high efficiency.

It is reported that based on the demonstration application of the Guangzhou North Ring Expressway, the management and expert teams will advance validation and summarize the functional role of fully transparent active luminous signs, further promoting their application.
